Sally Kosmalski is a writer, music teacher and performer and lives in Virginia, Minnesota. She earned an AA Degree from Mesabi Range Community College in 1983 and continued on at the University of Minnesota - Duluth, graduating with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Composing in 1987.
Kosmalski is the organist, and choir accompanist, at Hope Presbyterian Church in Virginia, Minnesota and give private music lessons. She is an accomplished musician and has presented numerous music concerts which featured several of her compositions, the most recent of which were aired over the Local Access Channel on Mediacom Cable TV. Kosmalski is a late bloomer with her three children who are all married and live on their own. Her hobbies include attending music festivals, dancing, travel and scuba diving.
Sally has completed a First Book of Poetry, a ten-story book of Travel Memoirs and a 434-page book about the lives of her parents and their ancestors in 1998. She donated a copy to the Minnesota Historical Society in St. Paul, at their request. She is also on the Board of Directors at the Bear Roots Art Colony in Orr, Minnesota.
To date Kosmalski has had thirty poems and two memoir essays published. In July of 2005 she received a $1,000 Scholarship for a Travel Writing Workshop and housing, at the Split Rock Arts Program in St. Paul/Minneapolis, Minnesota, which is held at the University of Minnesota every summer.
