Michael Monroe blends vocals, guitar, and bamboo flute with creative technology. Michael's unique creation of music leaves his audiences mesmerized... Acoustic purists appreciate Michael's clean guitar playing and rich vocals as well as his "tasty" application of technology ...dubbing him the "Techno-Troubadour." He has found a way to recycle his music, live on stage. Now in his fourth decade of making music his living, his effective and versatile repertoire continues to captivate audiences of all ages with its unique blend of guitar, bamboo flute and rich vocals. Together, they create a powerful style of acoustic folk, reggae and jazz...a style that is as much fun as it is innovative.

In addition to performing in festivals, conferences, colleges, schools and clubs, Michael Monroe has spent much of the 90s performing his original music in school programs as well as with a Twin Cities non-profit organization where he shared his original music with students and faculty of all ages. In August of 2000, the MN State Arts Board selected Michael for their MN State Arts Board Performing Artists Roster and in 2001, on the Young Audiences and Duluth Depot Outreach rosters.

From vinyl to digital, Michael Monroe is now in his fourth decade of performing nationally in concert, festival, corporate and educational settings. He has travelled many miles since his first paid performance for an audience of 4000 and he recorded his first demo 30 years ago in a "chicken coop" studio owned by Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul and Mary.

Michael Monroe lives and records on the North Shore of Lake Superior in his solar powered log cabin. His instrumental music is seen across the nation on PBS and Canada in the award winning documentary, Chased By The Light, about Jim Brandenburg, National Geographic photographer and best selling author. They created a LIVE theater experience in several venues including the Guthrie Theater which featured Brandenburg's magnifcent images and Michael Monroe's instrumental music. "Soaring On Mended Wings" received a 2004 regional Emmy for a TV documentary.

Chased By The Light Michael Monroe's first instrumental recording, created as a soundtrack for the documentary, CHASED BY THE LIGHT - A 90 Day Photographic Journey which premiered during the March fund drive for TPT/PBS. The story reveals how Jim Brandenburg shot only one photograph a day as a personal project and ended up with a best selling book and all 90 photos featured in National Geographic. Each of the 90 photographs inspired Michael to compose the music which reflects the many moods of this project. The CD expands the various musical themes he created for the film. CD Price: $14.97

This CD was recorded using only solar power. Many of the instruments were played on a guitar synthesizer.
